Historical field note

This record preserves ground-truth provenance evidence for a single dream finding. It is not a current operating contract; use the numbered book and current runbooks for instructions.

Provenance: low-confidence dream finding slack (dreamrepair:77fc3e59014ba0d7950d22387f0204a0) — self-referential evidence chain, no concrete defect

Finding: a low-confidence dream-repair failure_pattern, scope project, project mac, provider label slack, fingerprint dreamrepair:77fc3e59014ba0d7950d22387f0204a0, confidence low (overall_confidence_score = 0.35), backed by exactly one evidence record. Candidate evidence: mem_823bea7af7044fbebdb8bf4f9305d4f9 (deployment_learning:mac) from origin task task_68cdc61351be48369d5b11cbcfb1bc84 ("Investigate low-confidence dream finding: slack", evidence_type = investigation). Prepared by: fleet worker (provenance/evidence-trace node; no production code, test, skill, config, or deploy edits).

Verdict: NO CONCRETE SLACK PROVIDER DEFECT — self-referential dream-repair loop

The finding is not backed by any real Slack provider fault (auth, delivery, API error, or config). Its single "evidence" record is the salvage lesson of a prior failed investigation task, and that task's own evidence is the salvage lesson of the investigation before it. Following the chain to its root yields a Slack-surface audit task that never ran — it failed at sandbox startup with failure_class = environment (executor_failed → non_retryable_attempt_failure) and produced no findings. The only slack signal anywhere is the classifier's bare-word \bslack\b regex matching the literal word "slack" in the investigation task titles/summaries. This is an evidence-provenance artifact, not an actionable defect.

Classification signals

  • Single area: area_type = provider, area_name = slack, confidence = low, confidence_score = 0.35, evidence_count = 1, signals = ["\\bslack\\b"] (schema = mac.dream_classifier.v1).
  • The 0.35 score is the classifier's deterministic single-record structural floor for support < 2 (src/mac/dream_cycle_classifier.py:15, src/mac/dream_cycle_classifier.py:87), i.e. an evidence-volume signal, not a corroborated fault.
  • No skills, tools, or repo areas were co-flagged, so nothing localizes a Slack-surface defect.

Evidence chain (candidate → root), all traced via the hub API

Each dream-repair task's sole evidence is the deployment_learning:mac salvage lesson emitted by the next task's failure. Every task in the chain is titled "Investigate low-confidence dream finding: slack", carries evidence_type = investigation, ended in state = failed with failure_class = environment (executor_failed → non_retryable_attempt_failure), and produced no substantive investigation output.

The root task task_09c2e5a439534b5993874be115d04251 — "Audit mac Slack provider surface for a reproducible failure" — is the only non-dream_repair node. Its own description targets the earlier fingerprint dreamrepair:f5ab051e4ea5fa6fc997c54350f1a81c. It failed the same way (failure_class = environment, executor_failed) at sandbox startup, so it never located Slack code, config, or tests and never characterized any defect. Its failure was salvaged into mem_a3f4f967f26246ada292721042140f90, which became the "1 evidence record" that seeded the loop above.

Whether any concrete Slack provider defect exists in the chain

None. Corroborating checks:

  • Referenced tasks: every task in the chain is a failed investigation/audit that produced no assertion, stack trace, reproduction, or named offending code path; each contributes only a self-snapshot of its own environment failure.
  • Memory corpus: targeted hub memory recall for Slack auth/delivery/API/ webhook/token/config failures returns zero records whose content mentions "slack"; the only matches are unrelated deployment_learning:mac records (GPU passthrough, OpenShell bootstrap, truncation handling).
  • Task search: the other slack-mentioning tasks concern the IDE "Slack advertisement projection" UI element, chat-gateway persona work, and notifier_service test coverage — none is a Slack messaging-provider fault (auth, delivery, API error, config).
  • Repository: a case-insensitive scan of the mac worktree finds no Slack provider code, config, or tests at all, so there is nothing to reproduce or repair.

Provenance summary (fleet-generic)

The slack label is noise echoed from investigation task titles; the finding is a self-referential dream-repair loop in which each low-confidence failure_pattern is fed by the environment-failure salvage lesson of the previous identical investigation, all rooting in a single Slack-surface audit task that failed to execute. No concrete Slack provider defect (auth, delivery, API error, or config) exists anywhere in the chain. The 0.35 confidence is the classifier's deterministic single-record floor, i.e. an evidence-volume artifact rather than a corroborated fault. The actionability assessment should treat this finding as not actionable, with the evidence gap being the absence of any real, reproducible Slack-surface failure.
